I am torn with this. We are delaying the Hep B vaccine and not getting the eye ointment, but this one is tough. I don't really see an issue with getting it, but at the same time, if it's not necessary, why do it? The risk of baby having a bleeding issue is rare, but I would feel guilty if something happened. After some reading, it seems like most mammals are born w/ love Vit K which makes me think maybe there is a reason for that.
What do you ladies think? I'd like to have my mind made up in time for our MW appointment tomorrow.
Re: Vitamin K
We delayed Hep B but did both the eye goop and Vit K shot. Eye goop because I was GBS+ and it couldn't hurt for extra protection. Vit K because we planned on circumcising.
Weigh the pros and cons, risks and benefits. The benefits of Vit K and erithomycin, outweighed the risks of not receiving the two for us.

I did vit K. Unlike the eye ointment, it seemed like a situation where the benefits outweighed the risks.
Agreed!
This was what we decided to do about the vitamin K shot as well.
First comes love, next comes marriage, then comes...
This. I am waiting to see how delivery goes. With dd I was okay with the vitamin K because I spent 16 hours hooked up to pitocin, and it was traumatic for me, let alone her. This time, if everything goes normally I will opt for the oral vitamin K.
