.... and a verdict.

They have reached a verdict in the Jodi Arias case. I think she's going to walk. Even though she is completely guilty. It's so obvious.

  • So she's guilty of 1st degree.

What does that mean?? What's next?

She committed murder with premedication. The sentencing will follow in the future. It's a death penalty state, which I'm not as familiar with since my state is non capital punishment.

That's what I was confused on. They are talking about having the Jury into aggrivation (No idea what that it) and they decide from there. I highly highly doubt she will get death. Then again I thought she would walk....

I don't live in AZ but from my understanding being guilty of 1st degree = life w/out parole OR the death penalty. The sentencing phase starts tomorrow. Basically this just means the prosecution will give reasons why she is a dangerous person, gruesome murder, etc...and the defense will bring up mitigating factors and will probably put psychologists/psychiatrists up on the stand.

I posted while you were posting.

The state is going for the death penalty, right?

Oh, did you find Jodi's reaction odd? I expected more from her.

Yes they are going for the death penalty which is almost like a separate trial aka the jury still can't talk to anyone about the case yet. I thought she would be more emotional, but listening to the news it sounds like she was expecting the guilty plea.

That's what I thought too. Or like relief. She's lied for years and now it's over.

  • I have nothing to add except that it's premeditation, not premedication. I LOLed. That's all.
  • Some attorney just announced that Travis Alexander's siblings are filing a civil wrongful death suit against Jodi... Anyone know what the point of that would be?

In big cases like this they usually do, then ask for an insane amount of cash. It usually goes towards funeral costs, any other costs the bf left behind and attorney costs. Not everyone uses the money for those purposes though.  Hopefully someone somewhere has already taken away the ability and any royalties she could make off her side of the story.

Yes. Civil suits are person v. person.

  • AAA - I suggest a crash course in law.

Get thee to the Netflix and watch all available episodes of Law & Order.  Preferably the Logan/Briscoe years, but the Briscoe/Green ones are also good because Jesse L. Martin is 17 levels of delicious.

You don't understand the appeal of Benedict Cumberbatch / think he's fug / don't know who he is? WATCH SHERLOCK.  Until you do, your negative opinion of him will not be taken seriously.

  • Thanks, Cole & Betty.

I have never followed any big cases and aside from divorce/custody stuff, I literally have no idea on any legal stuff.
