I always read questions or topics on med free child birth. Seems a majority are going that route. I don't judge anyone's choice they make. I do wonder though.....
Any ladies like me? I want an epidural ASAP and don't mind being strapped to the bed, long as I get my pain relief!
Re: Pain Free Ladies?
That doesn't sound like something to be attacked about....
Attacked? Really? I very much doubt that.

"If you're still my small babe
or you're all the way grown,
my promise to you
is you're never alone.
You are my angel, my darling,
my star...and my love will find you,
wherever you are."
Yea that's what I was thinking.
I am gonna do my best to go natural but I tend to hold my breath when I am hurting bad and I forget to breathe so I am keeping open options to be safe. Lol
the topic was about birth plans and med free birth or something can't remember. I mentioned I wasn't going in with a set in stone plan and wanted to try and go med free but wouldn't be upset if I didn't... I was told I was nieve and must have a plan if I want med free birth blah blah blah... drugs are bad mmkay and I was going to fail unless I said absolutely 100% that I wasn't getting an epi. like I said it was a long time ago and I don't even know if those same people are still on this board. I'm not too worried about it. I like my plan. I think it was the "I'll wait and see" mentality that people didn't agree with...
yes because nobody here does that!
not trying to start drama lets all go on about our day and not get too worked up!
edit : maybe heated discussion is a better word?
that's kind of what I was thinking
I posted in another thread that I would take an epidural in the hospital parking lot if I could! My only regret about my last labour is that I didn't get the epi sooner.
I will end up with an epi or spinal for non-pain reasons (too much spinal fluid, will need to be drained out periodically).
I really want to go without it and be all Super Woman about it, but I also don't want to go blind if the pressure gets too high from pain and pushing.
Sounds reasonable to me. I took the same approach with DD.
FTM here too, and 100% planning on getting the epidural.
I admire any mom for choosing making her own decisions about birth, whether it's natural or managed through medication. I chose to have an epidural the last time (surrogacy) and probably will this time, just so I can focus on the whole experience rather than just the pain. I'm no stranger to pain (mower injury when I was a kid = 13 reconstructive surgeries and 3 skin grafts), but I think an epidural helps make the experience more enjoyable. :-)
I am all for the epidural and have said so multiple times on various boards and have never been "attacked" for it. There is no shame in the epidural. To each their own.
FTM here and I am going in with an open mind... if I can handle the pain then I will try and do it med free.
If I am in agony then BRING ON THE DRUGS!!
I do have a history of health problems that may ultimately require meds, so I'm realistic. But my goal is to go without, and that's also a big part of the reason we've hired a doula, too.
This exactly for me.
This time I am choosing a c section. I may need one anyways if both of these babies continue to stay breech, but I feel it is a safer option with multiples. Plus I can get my tubes tied during instead of going back for another procedure.

When I walk in the door I want meds...lol...DH is worried about them because a)his sister is super woman and didn't have any with all three of her kids and b) worried about me being paralized because they kit my spine/nerves.
We've talked about it and while the needle will scare me, my pain and reaction to it will scare everyone else! My pain tolerance is 0 but maybe breaking his hand or ear drum by screaming will get the point across!

I wrote in other posts today, but I got it at 6 CM so it didn't slow down my labor.
The only thing I wanted to avoid was pitocin or being induced. I had to "fight" my OB a bit to wait to be induced until 41 weeks and 3 days. Thankfully I went into labor at exactly 41 weeks.
I'm not one to handle physical pain very well and the thought of giving birth terrifies me.
around here the dr's and staff are all about med free but when I got to the hospital with my first and they decided to check me in I said right away that I wanted an epi. I told them that if they let me get too far along and not get an epi that I would feel as though they tricked me. I still had to wait hours to get it and was in lots of pain.
I will get it sooner if possible with this one. I personally don't understand why someone would want to be in pain but each to their own.
