P has an ear infection! Poor thing. She hasn't slept well (as in waking up more then the usual 2 times per night) for a week now. I hope the medicine kicks in soon... mama and baby need sleep!!! I read a few posts down about propping them up a bit as laying flat hurts their ears... how do you do this safely? Something under the mattress?
Also, with this medication the pharmacist told us to give with food 3 times per day. Thats a lot of medicine in 12 to 14 hours. If you have given LO antibiotics for an ear infection did you do it during awake hours or give a dose at night? The other antibiotics she was on specified to give a dose every 10-12 hours so I am a little confused for these.
Thanks!
Re: Ear infection.
Yes you can just put a pillow under their mattress. We only did that once w ds...he likes to move in his sleep and well he must have sat upright and then fell over down to the edge of the crib.
We put books under the mattress to angle it. But honestly, when DS's ears are really bothering him, he is most comfortable sleeping on my shoulder. I hope you have better luck so you can get some sleep!
The antibiotics that DS is on now is a once per day dose which is great because he hates taking medicine. :P Right now we give it to him before his last bottle for the night.
Hope your LO feels better soon.
We use books too, but just like the PP said, Parker prefers to sleep on my shoulder and my shoulder only. It's been a long rough 2 weeks so far. I thought Parker was getting better, as for two nights we got a good 5 hour stretch. But then last night we were back to up every 1-2 hours screaming.
I took him back to the doctor's today and found that his ear is still infected, he has a lot of wax buildup and it looks like his eardrum may have ruptured or started too because he had some discharge in there as well. Anyway, we got a new antibiotic that is stronger than amoxacillion and we go back for a follow up in a week. Hopefully I'll see some improvements in the next day or two and my little guy will feel better and we can all get some sleep.
