GTKY: What is your "dream" gift?

No, world peace or an end to world hunger are not acceptable answers so cool your heals there beauty queens.

What is your "dream" (but could actually be realized at some point) material gift? Everyone has one, something that they just crave and maybe have for a very long time?

For me it's a diamond tennis bracelet. I have desperately wanted one ever since I was a little girl, nothing huge and flashy but just a simple, white gold, princess cut, diamond tennis bracelet. DH and I have looked at them a couple of times, if we had actually had our big giant wedding (we might do it as a vow renewal years down the line) it would have been DH's gift to me and I would have worn it as my wedding jewelery. The one I liked was I *think* 3k, it wasn't huge though but it was from a really nice jeweler. I told DH if he ever got me a tennis bracelet he would be my hero, I will seriously cry the day I get one and I will at some point.

A horse, lol. Seriously, owning a horse is that thing I've wanted since I was a wee girl, but will probably never have because they're too expensive to keep.

More realistically and recently, a birthstone ring for my kids.

I've always wanted a horse too, a horse and a llama/alpaca. I'll never get a horse, too expensive to keep like you said but as for a llama/alpaca... DH already said I can have one when we settle into a home and have some land, since they basically pay for themselves in one shearing (2 if I get one with a nice pedigree) I was able to convince him.

I'm slightly obsessed with them, a friend of mine boards her horse at a farm with 6 llamas and we have a huge alpaca farm about 15minutes away from us and there is a house that we pass on the way to my OB that has a couple dozen of them.

Ohhh fun. I've been eying this horseshoe necklace from Tiffany for about 6 months. It's pretty inexpensive but I don't think I'll be getting it anytime soon.

  • Hmm, I would have to go with a KitchenAide mixer. I love to bake and they are so helpful. Plus they last for such a long time.

Oh pretty! There are a few things I've been eying from Tiffany, my mom just got a new necklace that is gorgeous. I stick to Swarovski, looks more expensive than it actually is and I love their really simple necklaces that they have and their fun rings.

I swoon at all the fun colors of these whenever I walk by the display in Target lol I made & decorated M's birthday cake from scratch and it was such a PITA! The batter was so incredibly thick and there was so much of it! I swore I would never do a homemade cake again until I had a kitchen aid... but I think I'll have to suffer a bit longer.

That. Or, a necklace with their birthstones.

  • Can it be a purchase? I would LOVE to have a ranch house on acreage in MT, Bozeman area preferably. I grew up on a farm in TX and have been in the city since I moved out...that's the dream gift/purchase.

I have one and seriously, you should get one. I use it pretty much every day. And my DH thinks I'm a domestic goddess. Fresh whip cream on coffee, muffins fast... it's seriously the best purchase ever.

I'm going to go with a honker donker engagement ring and wedding band.

    If I can't have that, I wouldn't mind 1ct. diamond studs :-)

    SURPRISE! BFP: 12/2014 - EDD: 8/13/15

We made plans and God laughed

    DS: BFP: 9/30/12 - EDD: 6/9/13

Radley Quinn was fashionably late via induction on 6/17/13

I LOVE mine - best wedding gift we received!
  • A Mercedes with a big red bow...A convertible :)

    Greedy, I know...but it's the dream!

  • I would love a weekend at the Wickaninnish Inn.
  • A 1969 Boss 429 Mustang. In black please. Big Smile
  • It would have been my KitchenAid- we got ours at our wedding shower last year and it's been HEAVEN. Mixing my Irish Creme Cheesecake by hand may have shown the love I have for it, but some of my other fav things to bake, like biscotti, just weren't getting done with my grandma's hand mixer or me. Then there was the biscotti incident of 2011 in which the mixer pieces actually launched themselves out of the handle full of batter and dented the wall.....

Now though... I don't really have one.... time to pick a new dream gift! Maybe a kitten!

Our lil' diva: late like her Momma: 40 weeks 5 days!
  • All I can think of is a large farm. But one with a great old white house with a porch and a flower cutting garden with a white washed fence and a view. Now if we want to get impractical I would also like ranch hands to do all the work so I can just enjoy the view and fresh flower and produce.

    A bread machine. I'm lame.

Lol. Or, I just really like fresh homemade bread.

    I feel like such a jerk because I received one of these as a gift and have never even used it once! I would totally send it to you if I can find it!!! Haha as for my "dream" all I really want is to get engaged!! It keeps getting put off because of other financial responsibilities and now that we have our school loans paid off I hope he steps up soon!! I don't even need an extravagant ring.. Just something simple, beautiful, and classy. ;
  • Hmm, I huge Tudor style home with a yard to die for like HGtV type yard work lol! I love our home now but I don't spend the time in the yard like I could.

I am in love with my KitchenAide. We're getting married next week.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • Mine is super lame...a new car. An actual, brand new, no mileage on it car.

Right now, I would love to have a brand new set of living room furniture.  Ours is horrible and we won't be able to get a new set anytime soon.

I also wouldn't mind a trip to Russia, maybe on one of those Viking cruises.

Well, if it's not a gift per se, I will jump in on the alpaca love -- DH and I really want to have a ranch house on some acreage where we can keep a few alpacas, some sheep and chickens, and a huge garden. We're working toward it for some day!

But for a gift... I really, really want a nice sewing machine. Like a top-of-the-line sewing machine. I have an amazing spinning wheel and a great drum carder and great tools for most of my crafts but I have a crappy-a$$ sewing machine and I just know I could take my sewing to the next level if I had a really nice one. (Like, the one I desperately want is $1500... which is a little more than I spent on my spinning wheel even). When we were having trouble getting/staying pregnant I was saving up for one as a sort of consolation gift? but that money is going toward LO now. Someday though! :)

  • A brand new Dodge Caravan. Our 2005 Pontiac Sunfire can suck it. It's going to be so crowded with 2 kids. I would love it if we could buy one next Spring. FX.

I also want to move out to the country. This is our plan like 10 years down the road. We want to fix up the place we own now and sell it so we can build our dream home. I grew up on a farm and I really miss the privacy of living out in the country.

  • A bathroom remodel.  My shower is so small that my belly actually hits the wall while I shower.  Shaving my legs in there has been a pain since we bought this house so now I do it sitting on the edge of the tub.

I would love to expand our shower to a his/hers shower with a built in bench.  I would also love to find the perfect tub.  One that I can lay in and my feet touch the end of the tub and my head be on the other side up and out of the water.  I am short so in a standard tub i will just slide right down the resting area.

  • A beautiful diamond wedding ring. I love mine, but it isn't what I've always wanted. We aren't rich so we only spent about 400 on mine. It's a 1920s ring and it's very small but I really do like it. It just broke though so I'm ready for a new one. I don't think that will be happening any time soon.

A lifetime of unlimited cruising (and the vacation time to be able to take them!).  We did a Norwegian cruise around the Hawaiian islands for our honeymoon and loved it.  My parents go on a nice cruise every couple years and I would love to be able to do that.
