3rd Trimester

37 weeks, will walking help ?

I have had a burst of energy lately and walking at least 2 miles a day... of course not all at one time... but through out the day on breaks and lunch, can walking bring baby early?

Re: 37 weeks, will walking help ?

  • It won't make the baby come earlier. Your baby needs these last couple of weeks. Don't rush things.

It can, however, help baby get into the perfect position for birth, which will shorten the time you'll be in labor when it does start.

  • Don't rush. You want baby to try to get to as close to 40 weeks as possible.

  • Probably not.... But it's good for you, so it can't hurt. ;)

  • Yes, walking helps get baby into position. I went to the park to walk around for a little bit on Thursday, and Friday morning at my appointment, baby went from -2 station to 0.

  • I have a burst of energy this week as well.  I am a walking QUEEN right now.  In the mornings with my neighbor and during my lunch breaks.  I am not walking in hopes to go early, but it feels good to me and it's good for you.  Helps put baby in that head down position.  Keep walking!  It's the best thing for us these next few weeks!
