We had to give our cat away. Last night I packed up our cat last night and took her to her new home. DH has developed an extreme allergy and was having asthma attacks at least once a day so we had no choice but to find her a new home. Thankfully one of my best friends has taken her so we can still visit! B was sleeping last night when I took her over to her new home, he hasn't noticed she is gone yet. Has anyone experienced a similar situation, how did your LO react? I am nervous he will be really sad, any tips to make it through this transition?
Re: So sad
I know B is gonna be sad and looking for her. They would cuddle together and play all the time! MH thinks the younger B is the easier the adjustment will be, I hope he is right!

We had to rehome our cat when my DD was 13 months. She didn't really care at all, but we were really upset. Our cat became aggressive towards her and was really hurting her, so we had to give him to someone with no kids.
I'm sorry! It really sucks!
We had to put our almost 13 year old dog down a few months ago. Gator and Adi were inseparable. A few days before we put her down, Gator had learned to say "Hi Diddy!" Our nickname for Adi. So that made it even harder because every time we walked in the door of the house, she yelled "Hi Diddy!" After a week or so she stopped. She no longer looks for Adi, but she loves to watch videos of the two of them together. And she loves to push the buttons on our iPad and iPhones to see our screen saver pictures of the two of them, and then she will whisper "Hi Diddy" and wave to the picture. Last night she found a picture of her and Adi that I took last year at Easter, and she held it and kissed it while I changed her diaper.
It's been a hard adjustment in our house to say the least.
OK this made me cry!! I am sorry you had to say goodbye to your dog! I made sure to take videos and pictures of the two of them this weekend. I'll probably keep them out of sight for a while still but at least they can look back at it!
Oh, Elsa!!! I'm fighting tears!
I'm sorry for you and for the OP. It sucks to lose a pet -- either to death or allergies.
its the hardest part of having a pet, is when the "ending" comes....whether you have to give the pet away or put it down. Especially if you have had the pet for a long time. We were just discussing what picture to use for our "Save the Date" for when we get married and it was probably the easiest decision because within seconds we both said the same picture....which was the last "family" picture we had taken two days before we had to put her down.
No words of advice. I'm sorry.
I am currently in a bad situation with my cat. She has gotten VERY picky about where she poops. She likes her litter box to be WAY out in the open. Which really isn't feasible. Any time it's near a wall, she poos on our floor.
