Back story: My RE is a doctor that works at the IVF institute I would be using, but he also has his own RE office separate. He will continue to be my IVF doctor when that time comes. I thought at my initial consult, that I would meet with the financial lady AND meet with some type of IVF coordinator/nurse/doctor, etc.
I had MH take off work early to go with me. The office manager/financial lady came and got us. We walked into the office, she gave us 2 pieces of paper (one with the cost of 1 cycle, the other with the cost of 2 cycles). She then asked if we had questions and was seemingly done with her appointment. WTF??
So I asked what my med protocol, further testing needed prior to starting the whole thing...she just said that all the clinical questions should be with my RE....grr...
Ive been doing some research regarding DQ alpha matching/NK cells testing because of our 2 losses. So I asked about that, and she scheduled us to come in next week for that test (thats another $1000 
. But she wouldn't have, if I didn't ask. She didn't know our history or anything (despite the 8 page questionnaire I sent back to them).
I asked a little more about the results of the tests and the possible treatment, she then told me "Well if you are 100% matched, you need donor sperm because you two will never be able to have kids together". I pretty much sat there stunned for a moment...and then we left.
I love my doctor, and have heard nothing but great things from my friends that went through IVF at this center, but I pretty much wasted my afternooon receiving 2 papers that she couldve emailed to me.
The next step is to decide which cycle we want to go with, right now it's between August or September because my work schedule for July is already out. Who knows, I bought myself a bottle of wine on the way home and am going to enjoy it tonight.

That's so dumb...I understand the REs and offices are all busy, so sometimes we can feel rushed. But you'd think they would actually save time if they worked to schedule a good and thorough consult (including discussion on meds, etc.) with you all at once. And especially if it's something as important as IVF! At least you have a good doctor you're happy with. Enjoy the wine!

IUI #"s1 - 3 (Femara + IUI) April - June 2013 - all BFN
Decided to do IVF... Began stimming on September 10th! Egg Retrieval 9/20/13. 19 eggs: 6 to mature to freeze after 6 fertilized with ICSI
3 morula stage embryos transferred on 9/25/13.....Beta #1 on 10/4/13/ = 7.5 Beta #2 on 10/6/13 = negative
IVF#2 - Lupron plan (set to begin on 10/28/13) (Planning on thawing and fertilizing our 6 eggs with ICSI as well as all of the mature eggs they retrieve with this fresh cycle.)
Late October 2013 - ectopic pregnancy - methotrexate injection....benched 3 months
CD1 - 12/5/13...Lupron set to start on 12/26/13; CD1 - 1/2/14....Baseline 1/3/14....begin follistim tonight and continue with lupron. (Got my calendar today! IVF#2 is a go!)
ER = 1/14/14 (11 eggs....9 were mature. 9 fertilized. Of the 6 mature eggs we thawed, only 4 fertilized. At this time, we have 13 eggs fertilized and growing. Waiting for news about a 3-day or 5-day transfer.)
ET = 1/19/14 (5dt).....3 blastocysts transferred! (All nine embryos didn't make it to freeze. =( )
Beta #1 = 1/28/14 (2 weeks after ER) BFP! 209 (9dp5dt) EDD 10/7/14

I'm so sorry you had such a terrible appointment. Perhaps you could give some feedback to your RE about how it went, maybe it was just this particular person you met with who is bad?

I'm sorry, hon. I can probably guess who your doctor is and the center you are using! Good luck with your testing. If you do end up with a partial or full match, there are other options. My husband and I had a partial match. We ended up getting additional treatment through a reproductive immunologist.
I hope you are not offended by me responding. I was a regular on this board a long time ago. I check in on a few people now and then but don't usually respond/post. Your post just made me feel the need to post. I'm not on here much but, Katib knows how to find me if you ever want to "talk".

Me= 37 and DH = 41
Dx: DOR, Endo, APA+ (really high beta 2 glycoprotein antibody and high everything else tested), heterozygous MTHFR mutation, positive for lupus anticoagulant, high FSH, low AMH and both tubes blocked (per HSG on 3/8/11)
IVF #1 - long lupron (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 4 retrieved, 3 fertilized; ET 2 blasts and 1 frozen = BFN
IVF #2 - a version of antagonist with EPP (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 6 retrieved, 4 mature, 3 fertilized, 2 blasts and 1 frozen blast transferred on day 5 = BFN.
IVF #3 April was postponed to May, May was canceled. June/July was canceled. Had a cyst aspiration and then began IVF #3 in August. ER on 8/22; ET on 8/24 with AH. +HPT on 9/5. Beta #1 (11dpo) = 3; Beta #2 (15dpo) = 29; Beta #3 (17dpo) = 60; Beta #4 (19 dpo) = 118. Heartbeat at 6 weeks 6 days =132. Lil is here!
TTC#2: Trigger + TI = BFN; Clomid + Trigger + IUI = BFN.
IVF #4: BCP + MDLF + Lovenox = 7R, 1F = Transferred 1 6-cell embryo on day 3 = BFN
IVF #5: MDLF + Lovenox = 4R, 1F = Transferred 1 10-cell compacting embryo on day 3 = BFN
IVF #6: (New RE): Long Antagonist November 2014 (transferred two 8 cell grade 1 embryos and froze one blast) = BFN

Like I said, I love my doctor and those people in his office, but just a bad first impression of the IVF center. I spoke with my RE's office today, I'm gonna call on CD1 and then start testing, get a hysteroscopy, and start BCP. I feel better that I at least have a plan and we'll just have to see if anything additional is revealed in testing. I will definitely have more questions if we come up as a match....thanks!
