Belly Band - How Long did you use?

I'm 6 weeks pp and still having to use a post-partum support (belly band). When I take it off to shower if I walk around without it for a little while I feel the need to put it back on. It's hard to explain but it's a weird kinda "hanging out" feeling like everything feels droopy and jiggly and it's not quite comfortable. I feel much better after I wrap back up.

Just wanted to know is this normal after 6 weeks? How long did you wear a support?

Re: Belly Band - How Long did you use?

  • Csection in 2 weeks.... What is a belly band for? Is it only for after csection?

  • I wore mine for 2 weeks after my c-section. I didn't have any issues without it at that point.

It basically helps you feel like everything is being held together. And it helped flatten my stomach! I loved mine. I almost ordered one online buy my doc told me to save my money and ordered one for me. Loved it!

Is this something i can ask for in the hospital after my RCS?

  • Sounds good! Any recommendations? Do hospitals have them for free?

The hospital will give you one for free if your doctor writes an order for it. Otherwise, I got the babies r us support, it's about 30 and I found I liked it better than the one I got in the hospital.

Not much help here, but no one else has answered.  I  didn't wear any kind of belly band or support.  I would think you should be fine to stop wearing it now.
    This exactly.

Thanks! I'm trying to wean off of it now :

I wore a tight binder for about 2 weeks and I know the feeling.... taking it off makes your incision area feel unstable. I stopped wearing mine but I think if you are more comfortable w it on, then keep it on!

Thanks. I'm going to see if I can do without it at this point, maybe I've been using it as a crutch for too long.
