Milk in sippy cups?

Have any of you started to give formula/breast milk in sippy cups instead of bottles? If yes did it go ok and did you just do it cold turkey?

Re: Milk in sippy cups?

  • We are trying with formula but DS seems to prefer to hold it above his head and dump it on himself instead of drinking it.

  • I did it once. DD liked it.

They started doing it at daycare.  DD hasn't had any issues.  She's been drinking water from a sippy cup for months so she is familiar with them.

  • Nope if DS wants milk he gets it fom the tap lol we only put juice and water in his sippy cups.
  • At our 9 month check up, the pediatrician recommended getting rid of bottles completely and giving milk in a sippy. He gets pumped milk a few evenings a week when I'm out. We tried that once, but he spilled too much. We found he has better control over a straw cup, so we do milk in the straw cup, water in the sippy. It was the right time for him as he was just starting to get frustrated with the slow flow nipple on the bottles and I had no intention of getting faster nipples at this stage in the game.

DS3 only gets 1 bottle a day before bed. At breakfast and lunch he gets sippies of milk/formula and at snack he gets water. He'll be losing that last bottle a week or so before he turns 1..
