XP beta levels after methotrexate

I had a methotrexate injection on Friday and had a beta today. It was 280, up from 190 on Friday. My RE told me my beta might go up after the injection so I know this is normal. But does anyone know why it would go up? This is the biggest increase I've had in 7 betas and it seems odd that would happen after the methotrexate.
TTC since December 2011
Me: 29 ovulatory disorder
DH: 30 MFI - low everything

IUI #1: 11/5/12 BFN
December IUI cancelled due to cyst
IUI #2: 1/8/13 BFN

IVF in April 2013 transferred one beautiful blast on 4/13
Beta #1 4/22: BFP!! 33 Beta #2 54 Beta #3 70 Beta #4 83 Beta #5 105. Possible ectopic, MTX and M/C 5w4d

FET 6/21 - Beta #1: 79 BFP!! Beta #2: 253 U/S 7/12: saw the sac! U/S #2 7/19 great heartbeat of 127!! U/S #3 heartbeat of 154! U/S #4 graduated to OB

    Hey girl, how are you feeling? I hope the shot didn't cause too many side effects. I'm not sure what causes the beta to go up but I know that you need at 15 percent drop between day 4 draw and day 7 draw.

    ectopic pg MTX given 3 month break from TTC

    IVF#4 Sept 2013--BFN

    Hey! I haven't felt too bad, the effects have been more emotional than physical. I just hope my beta drops Friday so this process will be on its way to ending.

    I'm so sorry you have to go through this. Prayers your next draw is really low and you can move on.

    First, I am so sorry for your loss.  

    Just wanted to mention that my levels went up just a slight amount to about 220 from 150 or something like that.  I am not sure why though.  I will tell you that it took forever for my betas to get down <5, around 10 weeks or so.  Not sure why, because it didnt start out that high in the first place.

    BFP #3: 8/27/13
    Me: MTHFR, Low AMH (1.1), High NK cells and Antiphospholipid Antibodies.
    DH:MFI-Low morph (1%), DNA fragmentation: Excellent!
    5 rounds of clomid, 3 IUIs, and multiple non-medicated cycles- BFFN                                                      
    IVF with ICSI in August 2013 brought us our babies.  ER-9R, 7M, 4F w/ICSI  ET of 2-Grade 2 blasts. 
    + HPT at 6dp5dt. #1 (8dp5dt)- 105    #2 (13dp5dt)- 510  #3 (15dp5dt)- 960  #4 (17dp5dt)- 1889
    Dx shortened cervix, PTL, and preeclampsia during pregnancy.  Lots of medications and 13 weeks of bedrest, babies were born healthy at 34w4d!

     Oh no! I'm sorry you had to go through this too. I can't believe it took so long for your level to drop. I'm not starting high either so thanks for letting me know your experience. At least I won't be shocked if that happens to me.

    I had the opposite happen. My levels were 0 about 2.5 weeks after the shot. Hopefully yours fall as fast as mine.
