February 2013 Moms

Is my ticker wrong?

Is anyone good at math? I'm in publishing and suck at math. :)

DD was born 2/23. So, on Saturday, she'll be 11 weeks. And then next Saturday, she'll be 12 weeks. I entered her birth date correctly and just redid it. It says she is 2 months and 2 weeks today...Am I totally spacing on the math here?

No. It goes off of the calendar month versus weeks. My LO was born 2/13, so he'll be 12 weeks tomorrow, but my ticker doesn't reflect that.

  • DS was born the same day, so I checked my ticker and it says the same thing. I am an English teacher though, so I am also horrible at math. I would think it should be 2 months, 2 weeks, and so many days.

This. DD will be 14 weeks old on Thursday, but my ticker is like a week behind because it goes by the month, not the weeks. It's really annoying. I almost feel like getting rid of it because it's wrong.... haha.

The number of weeks is slightly different then the number of months. For instance DD2 is 12 weeks old today, but she won't be 3 months until the 11th, since she was born on the 11th.

Gah!!! So confusing! This is why I don't do math lol

Yeah this annoys me too. People like to hear how many months old your baby is because they're not used to talking in weeks but months are not accurate because there's not always 4 weeks in a month! But there are always 7 days in a week. I was so confused when trying to figure out my DS's two month bday lol. Luckily his 1 month matched up. He was born on the 15th so his 4 weeks landed on mar 15th.

This exactly. February was the only month that "added up" because it had 28 days.

Since most people don't calculate by weeks of age, I just say he's almost 3 months old (since he'll be 3 months old on the 12th, but is 12 weeks today).
