table & chairs

for those that have toddler-size table and chairs, do they get much use? I'm eyeing a $100 kidkraft set so want it to be worth it. I wish there was an ikea nearby- looks like they have some low-priced decent looking sets.

Re: table & chairs

  • We have the cheap IKEA set and it gets enough use to justify the $20, but I wouldn't have spent $100. He colors on it or does a quick art project for maybe 5 minutes a day. He doesn't eat or play on it at all. My kid only really sits still when strapped in to something, however.

  • Ours is set up in her playroom.  She colors on it a few times a day.  She also has a plastic picnic table that we have outside and we eat lunch there a few times a week and she sits on it when we go outside.  So to me a table would be worth it, but I would go with a cheaper on since it'll get colored on and stuff.

  • We have my son's set up in our kitchen near his play kitchen.  He uses it when playing with his kitchen, arts & crafts, with his magnetic board and magnets, sometimes he requests to eat dinner or lunch there etc.

I only paid about $20-$30 at a consignment store but he gets a ton of use out of it.

I have a PBK set which gets tons of use.  It is also in our kitchen/bar (kitchen bar) area.  I would say they use it almost every day.  Mine was pricey for a kids table and chairs but it's high quality and I really like it.  After 4+ years it's in great shape and I expect many years worth of use yet.

I think it depends on where you put it.
