Floating devices for pool

I am trying to decide what would be best for my 2 y.o. to use in the pool this summer. Swimmies on the arms seem useful for when he is slighly older. I am trying to decide if I should get him one of those little vests or the block the goes on back with the straps that come around front. Any suggestions would be helpful. TIA

I'd avoid swimmies, the child can slip out of it. We used a Puddle Jumper PFD when we went on vacation. It is like swimmies, but the arm parts are foam and are attached to a foam band that goes around the torso. It clips in the back so the child can't undo it. It's A coast guard approved life jacket too.

My daughter has a Puddle Jumper that she used in the lake and in some pools (our local public pools don't allow them). She loves it because it gives her some independence in the water, and I love it because I know she can't get out of it.

Thanks for all your feedback. I hope I didnt give the wrong impression, I would still hold onto DS too, just looking for something to help support him and make him feel a little more independent. He just started the baby swim class too.

Is it a private residential pool? If not, check to see if any PFDs are even allowed. They are not at any public pool here, so we've only used them once or twice in MIL's pool.
Swimmies are dangerous if you ask me.

Yes, family and friends pool. I agree, I dont want to use swimmies at this age.
