Trouble TTC

Bummed

DH had surgery to fix his azoospermia in February and I had read so many stories online about people saying they get pregnant before their DH's have to even go back for the routine SA 3 months after the surgery--- and I really had my hopes up for this (on the outside chance I wanted to be one of those people, who wouldn't?!?).  I feel so disappointed because today I got AF, and DH's 3 month post-surgery SA is 5/21.  A small piece of me was holding hope for this and I'm so bummed (but not surprised since we both have fertility issues).  Now I'm even more nervous that his SA is going to come back with little to no improvements.  I'm just hoping at this point he has a descent enough count for IUI this summer.

Somedays just really are tough--- and today is one of those days.

Thanks ladies for hearing me out--- your everyday posts and hope are carrying me through this incredibly tough time.

Re: Bummed

  • I'm sorry. There is still hope that the numbers have come up though! Depending on how low the numbers were it could almost be like this cycle was your first real shot at getting a BFP. Maybe you just need a few more months with the hopefully improved numbers.

I am in a similar position. We've been on treatment for MFI for 5 months. After 3 months we saw little to no improvement so I just hoped we needed a bit longer. As of our post wash Saturday (5 months on treatment) turns out the numbers aren't getting better for us at all and actually decreased.  This was incredibly difficult news for us so I feel your pain.

Fingers crossed you get great numbers at your upcoming appointment!

As an MFI'er, I know all too well the hope that treatment will work magic and you'll get PG. After three years on this board, I've seen mixed results to the surgery YH had. But many even with good improvements still had to do IUI or IVF to get PG. So remember, the surgery was mainly meant to improve your chances with a treatment cycle. I know that's hard to hear. Sorry for the BFN but FX for improved numbers enough for good chances with IUI.

  • Thanks for all the positive encouragement.  And you're right, I need to keep in mind that the surgery for DH's zero sperm situation was to facilitate treatment, not for a miracle that we wouldn't need it.

Cara, is it possible to message offline?  I'd really like to hear more about your story and share.
