P has had a high fever, snotty nose and congestion since Saturday. We were scheduled to attend a baptism on Sunday, but decided not to go for two reasons: other children were going to be there and P was miserable and all he wanted to do was sleep. I talked to the mom today who never let me know she got my message about not attending and she made sure to tell me her son had a cold and another couple brought their child who was under the weather. Was that a dig? Am I being overly sensitive? Here I thought I was doing everyone a favor. I know the reception was at an expensive venue and I sent a check in the mail today. Were we wrong to stay home?
Re: Am I wrong?
Plus you've gone above and beyond by covering the cost. She's a jerk.
+1
It drives me nuts when sick kids are forced to participate in events especially around other kids. It's not fun for the sick kid, it's not fun for the parents and it's definitely not fun for the kids who get sick because of the sick kid.
You are not wrong.
Besides, it's not like the kid had just puked and you were going to daycare.

You are right. I would have stayed home, too! Why spread disease and make everyone miserable?
Ignore the mom.

I think a runny nose or a mild case of the sniffles (or even a single vomit due to a runny nose and a strong gag reflex) are totally different than a high fever that has lasted several days. You made the right choice.
Lub u too, gurl!
Especially with a 4 month old you would think she'd be thankful you kept your sick kid at home. Fever = contagious, right?
I would have stayed home too!
Seriously...I wish my family and friends had enough common sense to keep a child with a fever AWAY from a 4 month old. Clearly this mom isn't thinking...I mean what can be something simple for an adult or an older child can send a 4 month old to the ER!
