BTDT moms- I plan to breastfeed, but will have some bottles for later with DH and daycare, etc. Do I need a microwave steam sterilizer on my registry? Thanks!
Nope, not needed. Once they get a bit older, you don't need to sterilize bottles. I always threw mine in the dishwasher or did a quick handwash with a bottle brush. I used Medela steam bags for cleaning my pump parts and sterilizing any brand new bottles or pacificers in the beginning. They are pretty cheap and super convenient and don't take up storage space.
I found it useful. I used it more in the begining. However, my mother in law would just do the old fashion way and boil the bottles. To me it took way more time to do that but she had the time since she doesn't work so......
I just boiled them on occasion. Otherwise, I mostly hand-washed with a bottle brush. I used the Playtex drop-ins, so I only had to worry with the nipples.
We never did. Either DH washed by hand in hot water or we ran through the dishwasher (so we DID need one--actually we had two--of those dishwasher baskets for bottle parts). We never had any problems.
