My DS has started totally rejecting purees. He pushes the spoon away when I try to feed it to him.
He just started having table food at daycare. They have a weekly menu so he'll be trying lots of things there.
I need some ideas for meals on days he's home. Dinner is normally just what we're having but I'll take suggestions for that as well.
Breakfast:
Cereal mixed with apples
Waffle and cut up banana
Eggs
Lunch:
Turkey
Cheese
Ravioli he had this at daycare and loved it
Mixed vegetables
Dinner:
Spinach Lasagna
Chicken
Rice and vegetables
Pastina
These are some things he's had. Any suggestions? What is everyone feeding their LO nowadays?
Re: Meal ideas
I feed DD just about everything we are having. Just caught up small. She's been off of purees since about 9 months. The only thing she hasn't had is steak, honey, and hotdogs. Maybe few other things that I can't think of right now too. But I pretty much give her everything we eat. Good luck! Its so much easier when you can make 1 meal for everyone.
Breakfast- same as what you have listed. Dry cereal with fruit. Waffles. Eggs and sausage. Toast and yogurt. Pancakes.
Lunch- any kind of pasta. Grilled cheese and Soup. Sandwiches- turkey, ham, tuna, etc.
Dinner- meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Chicken and rice. Spaghetti. Tacos(soft shell). Quesadillas. Ham.
My daughter has not eaten purees for a while. She pretty much eats what we eat. For breakfast she eats most any kind of fruit cut up small. Also, sometimes a yogurt. Lunch and dinner are regular food. Some things she loves are:
pasta
potatoes
black or Northern white beans
green beans
ham or turkey and cheese
Also, I usually microwave some frozen veggies for her to eat throughout the week- carrots, peas, etc.
I hear of folks feeding their toddlers sandwiches around this age, but I don't quite get how. They're not really biting into a sandwich, right? Or do they? We haven't tried this yet, but DS does love wheat bread and cheese. Also, what brand of sandwich meat do you give them?
Our daycare teacher told me they make a sandwich and smush it flat. Then they cut it up into small pieces. I haven't tried this at home though.
Thanks for the ideas ladies!
Thats similar to what I do. I tear it into tiny pieces and smush it a little before giving it to him. I put it on a baguette today, which I probably won't do again; too crusty. Whole wheat bread or flatbread are good ideas.
