Exercise DVDs

Due on December 23. I live a very active life style. My job keeps me on my feet all day. I have to stay in shape to keep up with that. I just purchased two pregnancy exercise DVDs and wondering if anyone has tried them. One is 'What to Expect When You Are Expecting: The Workout'. The other is 'Pregnancy Fitness'. Has anyone tried either of these out?

I am an exercise DVD junkie. All started with Exercise TV On Demand. Then when that went out of service, I bought the DVDs for the programs that were my favorite. I use them at least five days a week, first thing in the morning. Want to make sure I do not over do it though.

Re: Exercise DVDs

  • Hi! I'm due July 15th. I love at home workouts as well. I stopped going to the gym when my hubby and I bought our first home. I wanted to be home all the time! lol I have heard of those DVD's but haven't heard good or bad. They sound good tho! I have been using and modifying Turbo Jam and Yoga Booty Ballet throughout my entire pregnancy and LOVE them! I try and get it done in the am as well before I start my day and get too tired. We should help keep each other accountable! I always need the motivation and support when working out at home.

  • I am also a workout DVD junkie that is due on Nov. 3.  I haven't tried the ones you mentioned but did try a couple others. When I found out I was pregnant I ordered the Summer Sanders workout DVD and Expecting More from Amazon. After reading reviews it seemed like those were solid/challenging prenatal workouts which is what I wanted.

The Summer Sanders video is good - although I have only done the 1st tri workout so far. Expecting More even better- IMO - the cardio is pretty challenging and safe.

Since I was a big stepper and HIIT before my pregnancy I have had to cut back on cardio so I also bought some Leslie Sansone videos - some of them are pretty good and keep my HR at about 150-155 if I add some of my own oomph to the moves :)

  • I can speak for What to Expect When you Are Expecting: the Workout. I bought it and used it a few times.  it's pretty gentle but does get your heart pumping and you moving.  If you're not very active to begin with, it may be a good starting point. I have to  mention that that narration/ leaders are horrible and fake.  It is by far the cheesiest workout video I've ever seen but you can always mute it if you'd like :)
