I was hoping you recommend your digital ear thermometer?

DD has an ear infection and when we went to the Dr today her temp was way higher then my thermometer had said it was. I need something better. I just have a safety first under arm type.

    I would definitely get a rectal thermometer. They are the most accurate compared to other ones.

    I asked the girls working at BRU (who also both had children) what they thought of the ear thermometers and they both said they prefer the thermometers that you swipe across their forehead. You can check their temp while they sleep. My only concern is accuracy. If you don't do it just right, it can read too low. I've seen this firsthand from using one at work (hospital). While rectal is unpleasant, it will probably give the most accurate reading. I've only ever used under the arm on Jack and he totally hates it. It would be nice to have something that gives you an instant reading.

    Go with the Exergen Temporal thermometer.  According to my pedi it is the most accurate next to rectal.  Plus, every ear one I've had has been crap.

    I love our ear thermometer...it's the same one that they use at our pedi..it's Braun ear thermometer...I have the Vicks forehead thermometer too and prefer the ear thermometer.

    We have this one and like it. Got it at Costco.
