Help! Roadtrip with Baby

We have a tiny SUV and will be traveling 19 hours straight for a roadtrip with LO and our two medium sized dogs. LO will be 6 months and a few weeks, and loves to watch the dogs, which will keep him entertained somewhat. Any other ideas for keeping my little guy happy while on this trip? Or any advice? Any cool car toys that he can play with independently?

     if I am going on a trip with LO I always Get in the back with him everyone two hours. He is entertained by me so well that I only use toys while I am in the front. My LO also takes several little naps while we are traveling. My little one loves his teething toys and his little rattle. We also bring cds with us bc our little man loves music. I talk to him about where we are going. what we are going to do and how much everyone is going to be so excited to see him. Hope this helps

    Just be prepared to take frequent breaks if he needs it.  We drive 15 hours about once a month to visit my family and honestly, the best advice I can give you is drive overnight if you can, because baby will sleep a major chunk of the time and make it easier for everyone.

    Can you split the trip into 2 days? I would never make my DD sit in a carseat for 19 hours straight. Seems mean. I would never be comfortable sitting in a car myself for that amount of time...

    I agree with doing the trip overnight or at least splitting it into 2 days. I just did an 8 hour drive with my 7.5 month old and it wasn't terrible, but it was pretty challenging keeping him content while restrained in his car seat for hours. We had toys, music, and books but that didn't hold his attention very long. He just wanted to get up and move.  Next time we will do the drive at night and save us all a lot of stress.
