Has anyone used the CARES restraint system for air travel for their little ones? (Amazon Link) Looks like it would be easier to use on the plane than a car seat, but is it worth the cost? Anyone have any experience/thoughts on using it? Thanks!
We used it once when DS was 1 year, 9 months. I didn't like it at that point bc DS was so little that it didn't really hold him secure against the back of the seat. Since there is no crotch strap his bum kept sliding forward and I constantly had to keep adjusting him back. It's a complaint that I've read in a lot of reviews. It made it impossible for him to nap on the flight whereas every other flight we've been on he slept through bc he was comfy in his car seat.
Now that he's older and stronger (he's 3.5), I would use it for sure!
I think it's meant for an older child. If your LO has their own seat, why not bring their car seat? You'll need one on the other end any way (probably?) and it's not recommended to check them.
Just type in "Rent my CARES Kids Fly Safe airplane seat belt harness" on ebay.com. There are a number of people who rent them but this particular one is the original person who started renting - not sure it matters. The instructions on how to contact and reserve dates are posted.

Re: CARES restraint for air travel?
I was wondering about this too, but we don't fly that often to justify the cost.
Anyhow, my babe needs to be a bit older to use that. Do let me know what you think, if you decide to get it.
For now, I bought a hipseat (https://www.amazon.com/i-angel-Simple-Type-Hipseat-Carrier/dp/B00C60QB64/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1367896866&sr=8-1&keywords=i-angel+hipseat) My babe feels very comfy in this when I sit or stand or walk around. Plus it saves my back pain!!
