How many do I need?

I am wondering how many of the following I need, without having to do laundry ALL.OF.THE.TIME.

Crib sheets?

Changing pad covers?

Mattress protectors?

I am thinking 2 of each, but I have no idea.  FTM here, opinions welcome!!

Re: How many do I need?

  • I have 2 fitted sheets, one changing pad cover, and one mattress protector.  Two of each would be great too but it's not a must have.  I do my LO's regular laundry once a week or more if needed and when I throw the mattress cover in, I just make sure it'll be dry in time for nap time or bedtime.  For the changing pad, it's no big deal if I need to change a diaper while it's in the washer or dryer.  I just do it on the changing pad without a cover.

  • I have 3 crib sheets, 1 changing pad cover, and one mattress protector. I could have gone with 2 crib sheets and an extra pad cover would have been nice, but not necessary.

My baby was never a spitter/vomiter and our diapers didn't leak, so we didn't need that many. I would go on the low end and add more if you have trouble.

  • 2 to 3 sheets
1 diaper changing pad cover plus a couple waterproof changing pad liners. I actually use receiving blankets or an extra travel changing pad from the hospital diaper bag.
No mattress protectors, my mattress is already waterproof.
  • I have five crib sheets, one mattress cover and I am not using a changing pad cover. It always get wet, so I found it more work than it is worth, plus you can spray off the changing pad when it is naked.

I had two of each with my first and I'm using the same sets with my second so it's pretty economical anyway. The third law of babies states, however, that once they spit up or pee or poop on one they will immediately do it on the fresh one just so you have to do laundry anyway.

  • We have 3 crib sheets (have only needed the 3rd one once during a horrible bout of the flu), 3 changing pad covers (definitely only need 2..or 1 even if you just toss a receiving blanket down on the pad when the cover is dirty), 2 mattress protectors.

I have 3 in diapers, 2 in cribs.

We have four crib sheets, but I plan on picking up probably another two in the next week or so.

We have 4 changing pad covers.  We have two changing pads.

    Mattress protectors we have four.

We are doing the three day potty training this weekend, I am hoping to have the two year old out of diapers next week.

I have 3 sets of sheets - they were pretty inexpensive.

For the changing pad, only one cover but I did get the boppy pad liners (https://www.amazon.com/Boppy-Changing-Pad-Liners-3-Pack/dp/B001CDFPY0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1367852691&sr=8-1&keywords=boppy+liners) that way you can just wash those without taking off the whole cover.

I love these things!  I definitely suggest getting 3-6 of these.  Then we had 3 sheets (which we've only ever used two of), 2 mattress pads (plenty), and one changing pad cover with 6 of the boppy liners.

another vote for the changing pad liners. i only had 1 cover, but in the very early days we went through those liners like crazy.

  • We have an abundance of crib sheets and LO still sleeps in his rock n play. One change pad cover and we use little white towels from the dollar store to sit on top that we easily change unless there is a big mess and one waterproof mattress cover which is also unused.
  • I have 4 sheets and that's too much, I think you'd be good with 3.

I have 3 changing pad covers and I am glad that I do. I have has to change it in 2 consecutive diaper changes many times.

I have 2 mattress pads. Perfect amount, in my opinion.
