Gift idea for a friend - Csec next week

Hi Ladies,

I have a friend (co-worker, used to be my boss) who is going in for a CSection on Tuesday. She will be 37 weeks.

Her shower was supposed to be this weekend (late I know), which is now cancelled.

Her last day in the office is Monday, and would like to get her something different than her shower gift...sort of in preparation for her Csection. Something for her baby (a girl) and also for her (becuase she is freaking out and a nervous wreck).

Any ideas on what a good pre-CSection gift could be?

TIA!

Maybe something that she won't have much time to do after the baby is born like a mani/pedi. If you want to do something for after the baby is born, a gift card for food that delivers would be great.

  • Depends on how much you would like to spend.  A good friend of mine had a woman clean my house right before I came home. OMG!  I do believe it was by far my most favorite gift.  She didn't do the laundry, but the house was clean.  It smelled so good, I was completely relaxed.

I like this idea. if you don't have the budget for it, maybe a food/snack basket? I was hungry often when I first got home from the hospital. Quick and easy snacks and drinks would be nice. Or some comfy pants/pj's (depends on how comfortable you are w/buying stuff like that). I lived in yoga and lounge pants for a few weeks. If you're short on time, I second the idea of a gift card to a restaurant, especially ones that deliver.

It was really hard for me to get up and do chores for a few weeks. If you are doing a gift basket, maybe include some paper plates and other disposable tableware. It is also recommended that after a c-section you hold a pillow to bear down while you laugh or cough. I wish I had a cute little pillow.

These are all really good ideas! All that i would have loved to get myself. My friend who was house/dog sitting for us ended up cleaning my entire house (and bathing the dog) as a welcome home surprise. It was seriously the most amazing thing anyone has ever done for me! My house was A MESS (LO came a week early). It was soooo nice to come home to a clean house. I've seen some really great housecleaning deals on livingsocial and groupon. Maybe you could buy her one of those as a gift?

My friends all set up meals for me to, which was amazing because even a month after LO was born I couldn't figure out what to do with him while I attempted cooking. I recently made a bunch of individually wrapped breakfast burritoes to stick in the freezer for one of my friends. She loved it: you can pull one out each morning and they only take one hand to eat! Super easy to make. Or a bunch of freezer meals?

I'm all about practical when it comes to gifts these days..
