Hi! I know your LO does not like the application of sunblock, but maybe there is something on the EWG website you can find that would work. It is my understanding sunblock is better than sunscreen and you want to look for non-nanoparticle sunscreen (per Lucie's list) which is why I am starting with LL's resources

https://www.ewg.org/2012sunscreen/

This is 2012's list, I cannot find 2013.

I used Neutrogena Pure and Free last summer, but I can smell it on my son after his bath (trust me, I clean him) so I am on the hunt for a new sunblock!

I found a spray on SafeMama.com that may work for you! It is the Green Beaver Organic! Score!

I have heard spray sunscreen is not particularly healthy for LOs...this is what the AAD has to say about sprays:

What type of sunscreen should I use?
The best type of sunscreen is the one you will use again and again. Just make sure it offers broad-spectrum (UVA and UVB) protection, an SPF of 30 or greater, and is water resistant.

The kind of sunscreen you choose is a matter of personal choice, and may vary depending on the area of the body to be protected. Available sunscreen options include lotions, creams, gels, ointments, wax sticks and sprays.

  • Sprays are sometimes preferred by parents since they are easy to apply to children. Make sure to use enough of these products to cover the entire surface area thoroughly. Do not inhale these products or apply near heat, open flame or while smoking. It is important to note that current FDA regulations on testing and standardization do not pertain to spray sunscreens. The agency continues to evaluate these products to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Thank you so much! My research took a bit of a turn when we found out for sure that E has eczema on his cheeks. We are switching to a "special" sunscreen for now- Vanicream sunscreen. This is in conjunction with all the other stuff we have to put on his face at the moment- let me tell you, he is NOT pleased! Once this flareup passes, I'll be in experimenter mode with baby sunscreens. Right now I like the Aveeno baby one. We also have Supergoop! sunscreen wipes for his arms and legs and for on-the-go applications.

Again, thanks so much for doing more research with me in mind! That was so sweet of you!
