Beco for hiking?

DH wants to start hiking now that the weather is pretty. We have a Beco Gemini and a 20 lb 10 month old. Would this carrier be okay for hiking in a shaded not-too-hot area? Also, what kind of time limit do you tend to place on using a carrier? I don't want to hurt his legs or hips from being in it too long.

Highly recommend a Kinderpack. I regularly do 5 hour hikes with no isses. Tula is also good but I like the Kinderpack with koolnit.

I agree that he's probably outgrown the Beco and would ditto the suggestions for the Kinderpack and Tula. The Action Baby Toddler size would be another less expensive option. As long as baby is in a properly fitting carrier - supported to the knees - I don't place any time limit on wearing as a proper carrier won't hurt baby's hips in anyway. And ditto on the back carry
