My DD will be 5 mo next week. She has been a good sleeper at night since about 10-11 weeks. She would wake up 1x at night or not at all. Then in the last week everything has gone downhill. She's waking up more frequently and is hungry, will eat 4-6 oz 2-3 times a night (she is FF). I noticed yesterday that she hardly ate anything during the day. I think she ate about 10 oz all day and then 5 oz before bed. She normally eats 20 oz during the day and then 4-6 oz before bed. Is this part of the 4 mo wakeful period? I'm confused as to why she's all of a sudden eating most of her feedings at night. Anyone else experience this?
Re: Eating more at night/4 mo wakeful?
This is what I have read is the 4 month wakeful. Babies are more alert and interested in the world around them so they don't eat as much during the day. That causes them to wake up more at night to fill up on the calories they missed out on during the day. I feed DS more often during the day and in his room where there aren't any distractions. He hasn't been waking up more at night, he's actually gettting up less. Whether or not that's why, I don't know, but it seems to be working.
Yes, this is exactly what my DD has been doing during the day too. I will try taking her into another quieter room. Thanks
