Birthday Parties

Picnic Party?

I am considering throwing DS's first birthday at a nearby community park and playground. They have a pavilion, but the use of it is "first come, first served" so we can't reserve it. Would it be a terrible idea to plan to do the party picnic-style (with blankets rather than tables) in case we got there and someone else had already staked out the tables? We do have a 10x10 pavilion tent and folding table for the food. The park is also very shaded.

Re: Picnic Party?

  • I would make sure to have some folding chairs for people who can't easily sit on the ground (elderly or pregnant).

This.  Otherwise, sounds fine to me....most people with kids don't seem to do much sitting at kids parties anyway.  I always rent a chair for every butt for DS's parties, and few of them get used because people mingle around the food tables and chat or are chasing their kids.

this, if you have some chairs for the ones that need them a picnic party is a nice idea

  • I think that is such a cute idea! I think people would have so much fun doing a picnic and playing frisbee etc. Great idea!

  • Whew! Thanks for the input, ladies! I can definitely bring some bag chairs and I know family members won't mind bringing some as well.

I would come ASAP to claim the shelter, I mean at like 6-7 in the morning and start setting up somethings so other ppl know it is taken.
