So, I have one!
Ugh!
When DH was 16ish [he is 24 now] his mom was drawing benefits in his name. She owes SSA over 30,000 dollars! She has been on a payment plan for years, but she lost her job in November. Well she stopped making her payments, and guess who they came after?! Dh and I filled our taxes end of Janruary...waiting,waiting,waiting for our money. February comes around and guess what?! Ssa came after OUR money and took 6,000 dollars from us! All because of his mom. He even has proof that he wasn't even living with her at the time she was drawing the benefits in his name. It got approved locally here in Texas for us to get our money back, but since its a large amount it has to go to the big office. Still no sign of our money! And Dh is in the field for the next 3 weeks [he is army] and SSA won't give me any info without having Dh on the phone. Ugh! Anyone work at SS lol ;]
Any other MIL stories? I could seriously write a whole book on all my MiL stories, And Dh and I have only been married 3 years. Crazy lady!
Hope everyone has a good week! Pray for me, as I have ds alone for the next 3 weeks and I sware he has started the terrible twos early!

Re: MIL Monday
So sorry you're going through this! MIL is a PITA, but not that bad.
One that sticks out was when we told them we were pregnant with DS...her response was "you're kidding?.....long pause.....I thought you were going to wait until you had a job?"
For clarification: I was an RN at the time working at a dialysis clinic. I had just graduated with my Master's degree and was transitioning from RN to nurse practitioner, so I was looking for a new job, but I was definitely employed! I just looked at her like, "are you kidding me?"...and then I told her, I do have a JOB, in fact, I have a CAREER, TYVM!
WOW! Your MIL takes the cake for sure! Yikes!!!
Your MIL sounds lovely! I hope the next 3 weeks goes ok for you.
I hate how certain companies will only talk to DH. Our cell phone company pulls that every time I call. I'm the one who has time to call, that's why I am the one calling! GRR
I have not seen, nor spoke to my MIL since Xmas. It's been a lovely 4+ months.
The last time she was around her and FIL popped in out of the blue while I was at work. She then needed to barge in on my sleeping (and teething) DD to awaken the poor, sleep-deprived child. FI then had to deal with accusations of how we were using our child against her and FIL. Then it was how we don't appreciate anything they do for us. And apparently there are ''Demons'' in our house and we raise our child in a violent environment.
Oh, and the only explanation MIL could come up with as to why FI doesn't like people showing up out of the blue, has nothing to do with planning around the naps of a toddler (let alone a teething, sleep-deprived one); it's because he has another woman.
Secretly I wish he had another woman because then she'd be the one I'd use to distract the IL's.
wow, I really don't like step MIL but she's never done anything fraudulent in Dh's name so I guess I should be greatful.
You might want to think about getting a power of attorney for YH...not that you should need it as his wife very often, but it might help you in situations like this when he's away.
That definitely takes the BSC MIL element to a whole new level! Here's hoping you get your money back!!!
Mine is pretty mellow as MIL's go.. My only real gripe is that my family is 250 miles away and they see DS/DD more than she does (she's 15 minutes and four turns if you include driveways away), and SIL's kids are constantly over there or she goes to their house with an open arms invite whenever SIL needs someone to watch them because apparently I don't need anyone because I'm a SAHM <GRRRR>..
