Ugh. I go in for my check up and first thing out of her mouth is, "Wait, you're still trying to get pregnant?!" Geez, thanks for filtering your shock. lol It's been 14 months but I guess seeing a perfectly (otherwise) healthy 25 year old, she thought I'd have no problems.
Then she goes on to ask about my RE and our results. I explained my high prolactin and said the more serious issue was DH's low motility. She asked if they said we could do IUI and I said no, it was too low. She again, looked shocked. Then she asked "What about IVF w/ICSI?" I told her yes, that was their recommendation. But DH went to the urologist and he said to try vitamins for 3 months and then variocoele surgery if we wanted to. She said "Girl, just do the ICSI." I said "Ok except its' $15000 for us..." Her response was "Call your mother, father, brother sisters, max out the credit cards...just get it done. Motility is a major issue and otherwise you are going to keep waiting and having the heartbreak every cycle."
Wow. I usually LOVE my dr but she was so blunt and not considerate about this!! Then, she goes on to do my pap smear and says I have a "Crazy small vagina" and "Are you going to be able to push a baby out of there? I think we'll have to do a C-Section".
Oooo man. Happy Monday. Thanks for listening!
Re: vent about ob/gyn visit
Hmm. Sounds like she was trying to be supportive, but in a very round about way. Sorry you had a rough start to your day.

Oh. my. word. I can't even decide which statement of her's was the worst. That whole thing was highly unprofessional. And then to say you might have something to worry about when you do get pregnant.... which might not even end up being a concern for you. She sounds ridiculous.
Ya sure just call people and beg for money, because that never creates problems......
I'm sorry for the super frustrating day!

Wow!! This sounds JUST like my OBGYN before I went to the RE. I will NOT go back to her!! She said, after almost two years of trying: "You know, at your age, you should have already been pregnant by now." "If you would lose a little weight, you'd get pregnant much easier." I told her I was running my first 5k she said: "umm, how are you going to run a 5k if you haven't been exercising?" She was so insensitive! For the record, I finished the 5k in about 40 minutes, thank you very much!! I'm a teacher, so I just don't sit on my arse all day!!! AND.....my tubes were completely blocked and that is why I couldn't get pregnant!! And, the idiot she is, she read my HSG totally wrong!!!!!
What people sometimes forget, is that drs. work for US!!! They have no right to speak to us that way, and in this situation, I would totally find a new OBGYN!!!!
