Non-toy toys

My child is currently playing with a plastic lazy susan that I got to go in the kitchen.  Apparently it's the most fabulous thing ever.  What random thing has your LO been fascinated with lately?

Pretty much everything, lol. I guess actual toys are overrated.

Yesterday it was rocks. I put some in her water table then we went for a walk and she brought big handfuls along.

cans of cat food and beans.

  • A small plastic bucket of Ikea kids utensils.  Yesterday she must haven't emptied and refilled that bucket piece by piece twenty times.

Pretty much anything for us, too.

DD loves picking up the rocks in the patio area under our deck and lining them up along the picnic table.  She does the same thing with the wood chips and the slide at the playground.

Whenever we go in the backyard anymore, she demands that the weed bucket be placed in the middle of the yard, and then she picks whatever she can find to throw in there and then bring out to the compost bins.  She's fascinated by the compost bins.  Now to teach her the difference between the weeds and the plants we want to keep . . .  Stick out tongue

he'd rather play with anything that isn't a toy over anything in the massive pile of toys he owns, but his absolute favorite thing in the world is socks. he likes to put them on his hands and walks around with sock mittens for an hour at a time. We've been using it as a comfort/distraction thing at all his doctor appointments and testing the last week, but the doctors think I'm weird, bringing my kid in with socks on his hands.

Violet does sock hands too!  She chases us all over the house with them going, "Socks!  Silly!"

Oh yes, Tatum too.  She puts them on her hands and stands in front of the stove saying, "hot, hot, hot."  At least she knows what they're supposed to be for, right?

Oh!  How did I forget his beloved quack-quack?!  Yes, our regular, boring black oven mitt is known as "quack quack", because mommy made it a duck one day.

  • I have another sock-hand kid.  That's usually how I find her when I get her up from a nap.

She also loves oven mitts and putting our gloves on her hands.  She loves walking around in our shoes saying "big girl!"

Her newest fascinations, thanks to our spring weather, are rocks and dandelions.

lol, same thing here.  If I go near the oven, he will will start shouting Mihh!  Mihh!  Hot! Hot! and make me put them on.
