Two Under 2

any tricks getting new baby to stay asleep?

might be better to post this in 0-3 but i figured some ladies w/ 2u2 might have better strategies? anyway, my son is almost five weeks and i can get him to sleep in 1-3 min in my arms or in ergo, but fail miserably whenever i try to transfer him somewhere else for naps. i will occasionally get 10-20 min in swing (he always wakes up first, though) but he just won't stay asleep. my older son (17 months) used to nap in his swing a lot until 4 months, although i do recall i usually had him asleep first.

i would really like to be able to transfer my LO so i can play with my older son and not hurt my back, but it's not going great. i just put him down in pack n play and got him to stay asleep, but five min later he's up again, sigh.

thanks!

This is my son too so I wear him a lot in either our K'tan or Beco.  It works like a charm.  Still doesn't help me deal with his sleep issues but at least I can do things!

  • What about a binky? My first didn't use one, but my second did, and OH MAN, it helped with naps. For the first few weeks I could barely sleep without her in my arms, but if I plugged in the binky, it was all ok.

  • I agree completely w the happiest baby on the block book. I was in the same aituation a few weeks ago. You can skim it in an hour or less and get what you need from it. I found w this baby I had to swaddle for naps. In transferring, I swaddle, which does wake her but she goes back to sleep quickly and then I put her down.
