injects question

i was under the impression that when you are doing an injects cycle, you do the gonal-f or whatever multiple times to mature the follies...then trigger with an HCG. when i got my pack of meds for my first cycle, they only included one vial of gonal-f and the nurse made it sound like i shoot the whole thing...does that make sense? do i just do it once? or am i confused? tia!

Re: injects question

  • Did she give you an amount you're supposed to inject? I'd call an ask.

I got 2 vials of follistim, but it's enough for 6 doses.

  • Loading the player...
  • no, but at the injects class the nurse said to mix it all, then to inject it all. i'll have to just ask when i go in, i guess...i get too reliant on getting all my answers here, immediately :)
  • Yea, definitely ask. I'm very new to this so I'm not sure. I know my HCG is the full dose but am not familiar with Gonal.
  • I got 3 Gonal-F pens, all 450iu.  I started with a dose of 75iu/night, and have now been upped to 150iu/night.  We just moved on to the 2nd pen last night...  It seems odd that they'd have you do the whole thing all at once...  I haven't personally heard of this, but who knows.  I'd call your nurse back and ask just to make sure.  Good Luck!!!

  • Hmm - I was on 450 of follistim this time and I did half in the morning and half at night.  Ditto what everyone else said about calling your nurse.  Do you have written instructions?  We were provided with written and oral instructions.

  • I got a 900 iu pen of gonal-F.  I did 150 iu's daily, enough for six nights.  I got another 450 pen and did 150 iu's for two more nights.  My RE told me today my follies are big enough and my hormones look good so, no more gonal-F.

It seems really odd to me that they would have you do the entire vial of gonal-F all at once.

I think the trigger is done in one shot.

Can you call your RE/nurse?  Good luck with this cycle!
