I know we have had tons of posts on RNP to crib transition. (And I've read them all!) We tried moving to the crib on Friday night. DS was up every 20 - 40 minutes ALL night. Finally, at 3 a.m. he gave us a 1.5 hour stretch. Then a 50 minute stretch. We tried again Saturday night hoping we would just have one bad night, no such luck. Same thing, up every 20-40 minutes. At midnight, we moved him back to the RNP and he looked at us, smiled, and fell right asleep for the whole night...I think it is the comfort of the RNP, he feels so snuggled up. I've heard people talk about wedges or something, that I could put around him in the crib so he still feels cozy. Any ideas on what this would be called or where I would find it?
I simply can't get no sleep for how many nights it will take him to be comfortable in the crib. If he gave us at least one good stretch, I would be okay, but he doesn't.
Also, any other recommendations for the transition would be good.
Lastly, at what age do you think a child NEEDS to be moved out of the RNP? Do I just give him more time until he is ready?
(We have weaned from the swaddle and he is now in the sleep sack. He is close to rolling over so I really don't want to swadlle him and then wean from that soon.)

DS doesn't sleep in an RnP, he never would but I agree with PP. Since DS wouldn't sleep in his RnP, hated his PnP (until he was about 3 months old), and wouldn't sleep anywhere BUT his crib we knew it was time to put him there. It's what he wanted. He's been in it since about 2 months. I think trying to force it if he's not ready will just cause you more grief and pain than is necessary. Read his signs and go from there, you'll know when/how to do it.

I used a crib wedge and swaddle to get her to the crib, but she never really slept that well in the RNP.
I would just let him stay in the RNP. Just be careful, if he's too old when you move him, you might have to do CIO to get him out. I have a friend trying to move her one year old with no luck.
