I am totally judging a gal I know who had a baby about 2 months ago. Her first was a great sleeper, but this one is definitely not. So this week she started her 2 month old on cereal in the bottle to try to help her sleep longer. I understand that this gal is probably reeling from the difference between her two kiddos, but still! UGH.
Our LO (my first) has been a terrible sleeper and it's only now, 5 months in, that he's starting to sleep longer stretches, and not even consistently at that. A lot of babies don't STTN--I just feel like she expects that because her first did, that her second should, too. Judgey McJudgerson here is mad that 1) she's getting a lot more sleep than me and 2) the cereal in the bottle is actually working for her. I will never give our LO cereal in a bottle, but man, I could seriously use more sleep. LO had me up at 1am, 2:30am, 4am, and then woke up for the day at 6:30am. Sleep deprivation is getting old.
But then, I just told my husband that I think LO is gonna need a brother..... O_o So, yes, I'm out of my mind. Is it too late to chalk up my craziness to postpartum madness?
Re: I'm Judgey McJudgerson and I don't care
That's a good idea. Does it work?

It isn't perfect, but does help a lot and is one less thing to clutter up since I already have extra pillows from pregnancy (is a lot easier to wash, and you have an extra clean up item around if you knock over your water, or the kiddo inadvertitenly tries to mark their territory. Kind of shove the extra bits at the end of towel under my chin and cheek fir a little more support.
Curious, what is wrong with giving cereal in the bottle? I haven't tried this, but my doctor did recommend it at LO's 4th month visit, so I was thinking about it. Your thoughts?
Here's a good summary as to why it's a bad idea. I'm honestly really surprised a pedi recommended that. https://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/tipcerealinbottle.htm

Yup, this. Choking hazard, digestive systems *usually* not ready for it (and especially not at 2 months!), and it tricks babies' stomachs into thinking they're full, but nutritionally, rice cereal is not nearly as filling as BM or formula. The starchiness of the rice cereal can also lead to extra gas and constipation.
Hmm... interesting! Well maybe she meant to mix the cereal with the formula and try it by the spoon. She may not have actually said to put it in a bottle - maybe I just interpretted it that way. (probably so!) I will have to clarify with her. Thanks for the info!
