I just realized how neurotic I can be.
I am helping to plan my SIL's baby shower with 3 other girls. The shower is supposed to be June 1st. We had no theme/color scheme/ time/ assignments until today. And people are still not saying much. SIL would like a vintage shower done in linen paisley with pink/peach and light blue accents (they are team green) with a She's About to Pop theme.
So after spending today browsing shower ideas for vintage shower and She's about to pop, I am realizing that these two ideas don't mesh very well. The vintage theme seems so elegant and She's About to Pop seems so trendy. I just emailed the other girls a list of questions I had about what we are doing. I can't stand not having a plan. They are going to think I am nuts. (It's okay, SIL already thinks I'm nuts.)
Any ideas on how to blend the two shower ideas without it looking disjointed?
Re: Neurotic shower planning
The only suggestion that comes to mind, at first thought, is vintage popcorn containers with popcorn in them for favours. And you could do a flavour station so people can flavour their own popcorn to take home (some sweet, some savory).
Oh no! She wasn't being rude. ( I am really tired and I just typed rood instead of rude. tee hee hee) We asked her what she would like. I just didn't expect the two ideas to be so far off from each other (at least in my head).
I like the vintage popcorn idea. Thanks.
Yeah I mean I can understand colors or a favorite food but that all sounds so specific and comes across as over the top. I think I would try to stick with the color scheme and try to find one or two things that relate to She's About to Pop but I wouldn't stress the rest. A year from now no ones going to remember it.
I agree. I would keep it simple and stick to one thing. When the ladies hosting my shower asked what I wanted, the only thing I mentioned was that I hated games with a passion. I never mentioned food, themes, colors, etc. I was greatful they were throwing me a shower, and even though i am a hardcore "handmade decorations/ awesome theme, etc" party planner....i stepped back because they were the ones throwing it, not me. Well the hosts were fine with no games but then my mom stepped in, micromanaged, took over, and forced everyone to play games. So I would just pick one theme and have fun with it. If it isn't up to her standards....I would ignore her. Haha
I detest showers without games!
I am very competitive and I love playing shower games. I feel cheated if they don't have them!
I think I would just come back to her and say pick one theme. I like the pop theme and I would use Pop art style for invites and decorations. I think it would be tons of fun.
