Babies: 3 - 6 Months

How is your 4 month old sleeping?

Mine...terrible.

At 2 months she would sleep 8pm-5am sometimes, or close to it. That didn't last long.

She goes down "ok" in her crib at night but wakes within an hour or two and often continues waking and wanting to be repositioned or given her pacifier, multiple times before we even go to bed.  In the middle of the night is the same - she doesn't always need to nurse, but needs help going back to sleep constantly.

Barely naps during the day because she wants to be held which unfortunately isn't usually an option with a toddler.  The only luck I have is if I get her into a deep sleep in my arms and manage a smooth transfer to the swing. Even that often doesn't last long.

Anyone else still having a rough time?

I'm terrified because my son was the same way and then didn't STTN until 16 months!  When she was sleeping 8-5 I thought "ok, whew, she won't do what he did" but now I'm scared again!

Yes. Ours has never had long stretches. Is you LO EBF? It seems like every baby I know who sleeps through the night is formula fed, so I'm trying to get a good gauge on how other EBF babies do.

Mine goes down sometime between 7 and 9p, is up every 2 to 3 hours to eat, and usually needs at least one additional soothing or pacifier replacement between each feeding. He's up for the day between 5:30 and 6. He's EBF.

I really do want to feed him if he's hungry, but would love to at least lose the extra soothing sessions in between. I'm so freaking tired. At least it's nice to know we're not alone ::mobile smiley::

I WISH I could talk about how he was sleeping because I wish he did sleep.  The other night he was up every. single. hour. I'm so tired.  DS used to sleep about 7 hours at a time then that went away and became 2-3 hours once then 45 minutes after that.  I so need him to sleep, I can't function well on this little, I don't remember the last time I did laundry and put it away in the same day.

My LO is EBF and STTN. He's decided to stop napping, so we're going to have to work on that. I hope your LO sleeps better soon!
  • DD was sleeping great until this past week. She was either STTN or waking up once. Last night she got up 3 times and then was up for the day at 5:40am. It's terrible! Hopefully this won't last long, so I feel your pain ladies. My DD is formula fed and she is still waking up to feed more often.

  • Rough time here too. My EBF 4 mo old had been sleeping basically through the night until a few weeks ago, and now every night's different. Goes to sleep well but then is up every 3-4 hrs to eat. Up for the day at different times too, depending on the morning. I think it will pass and am just trying to be patient!
  • I feel your pain. It takes my LO 2 hours of be going in and out of her room to rock or feed before she finally falls asleep in her crib. The she wakes up every 2 to 3 hours to eat through the night. Im sooo tired.
  • You just described my DD. 4 months tomorrow and we've been having the exact same issues you described. I'm hoping it doesn't last long because I'm spent.
  • So since 12 weeks, my baby has slept from about 11:30p to 630a and then wakes up for a bottle and then to sleep again till about 930 or 10am... I'm still in shock... i can't believe this is really happening:)
