Lupron

Starting Lupron for the first time tonight and I'm a little nervous about the side effects. When I was doing my last fresh cycle my OB said to me "oh at least you aren't on Lupron!" It puts you into a menopause state and makes people crazy". Great. Ugh

I had absolutely no issues and I was doing 20ml twice a day.  Everyone is different so take what you hear and read on the Internet with a grain of salt.
  • When I took Lupron for my fresh cycle, I had one really bad headache for a couple of hours, but that was it (and I was on it for a long time).  When I took it during my FET, I had no side effects.  So yes, you may have side effects but you also might be fine.  Don't worry about it too much until you're there.

My RE also told me your body kind of gets used to it, so you might feel sort of crazy in the first 24 hours and then feel better as your body adjusts.

  • I had also never been on Lupron before and was absolutely panicked about the side effects.  My body reacts to everything and I suffer from migraines.  I'm happy to say that I just finished my 12th day of 20 units and it really wasn't that bad.  I had a couple of dull headaches (cured with two Tylenol and a regular coke) and two minor migraines (cured with prescription meds).  It made me a little fuzzy during the first week and I found myself pretty tired but I definitely didn't experience the Lupron hell I expected.  Good luck!
    IVF 1 - March 2012 - BFP - lost baby at 20 weeks IVF 2 - September 2012 - cancelled - no response - ridiculously high FSH IVF 2.1 - October 2012 - never even got off the ground Spring 2013 - DE hopeful
  • I had a bad headache but it only lasted for about a day. I started Lupron on a Saturday evening and the headache was just on Sunday, then gone. I did get really emotional, sad and angry.

  • I'm very sensitive to drugs, but actually preferred the Lupron over Ganirelix!  It was the easiest injection of any I've had through any of my 3cycles.  No soreness, no stinging, no side effects (at least not more so than the other drugs).

  • I usually post on 3T but lurk over here sometimes. Hope it okay if I respond here. I did 6 months of lupron (post lap) for treatment of endo that was causing a blocked tube. I read and heard tons of horror stories about Lupron before i started my treatment and was really nervous. I had a few side effects but in the end it was no where near what you read on google. Everyone is different but I just wanted to share my experience. Keeping my fx that you have a side effect free experience with the Lupron.

  • I didn't have any side effects on lupron. You should (hopefully) be fine. I say this because usually I am a text book side effect person, and I literally had none on Lupron. Then again, I'm usually on a cocktail of meds so any one of those things could affect me lol
