Labor Cookies?!

Humor me.... all the other posts about labor cookies have been DD'd because the OP was frustrated with the replies.

I was googling OWT tonight and came across a recipe that actually sounds pretty good.

So what say you - fact or crap?

Re: Labor Cookies?!

  • Likely crap. But if they sound good to you and don't have anything harmful in them, then it can't hurt to try.

I have heard of lactation cookies but not labor cookies. What's in them?

  • FTR my very serious post about labor inducing cookies was not DD'd. If they look good then I don't see the harm in trying them, but I wouldn't expect them to actually do anything. I will be making lactation cookies though, because I've heard great things about them AND it's an excuse to eat chocolate chip cookies.

I like spicy cookies, so I'd go for it if they weren't so high in sugar! Can't hurt, and if you find them yummy , why not?

This. I don't think they are going to do anything for you, but what's the harm in making some cookies. Yum.

Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, salt and cayenne pepper in small mixing bowl.  Set dry ingredients aside.

Then blend margarine in large mixing bowl.  Stir in brown sugar and granulated sugar slowly.  Add the molasses, then the egg whites.  Finally, add the dry ingredients to your mix.

Roll dough into ? inch balls.  Roll cookie balls in sugar to lightly coat each cookie.  Place balls on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.  Bake in oven for 8-10 minutes or until cookies are golden brown.

  • SOunds like regular old cookies to me.

I wouldnt turn down a cookie at this point,  but unless those mofo's have got pitocin in them, they are not going to put you into labor

  • This looks exactly like my grandma's recipe for pepper cookies she sends them every Christmas since she knows they are my favorite, but this year se told me I couldn't eat them because they'd make the baby come... Maybe there is something to it...

  •  I made some.  I just added extra cayenne and ginger.  They are pretty good, but if you have a sensitive stomach, like heartburn or indigestion  be careful.  I got acid reflux right away.  I thought it was a funny and entertaining idea.  Plus I am a pastry chef and I was curious!  What's it going to hurt!

  • Pretty sure no one on this board is still trying to go into labor.....

  • Sorry just looked up the post and didn't realize it!  I had just did a search for the cookie recipe and this thread is what I got.  But I AM waiting to go into labor so I guess I should post somewhere else.  Thanks...

Yeah, with the exception of the cayenne pepper and eggs, they sound exactly like the Amish Ginger Cookies I make at Christmas every
    year.
ETA: the recipe I use also includes ginger.
