Birthday gift?

Hi all,

My best friend's baby boy is turning one this month. Any suggestions for toys or other gear that your DC loves (or is helpful to have with a 12 month old)? My babies are only five months old, so I'm kind of out of my depth here!

My son loves the little slide we bought him. He is a climber so he has a blast with it. My parents bought him a little tent that looks like a circus tent at Ikea and he really loves that, too. My in laws gave him a portable high chair that folds up into a neat little package when not in use and I thought that was a great idea too.

Depends on what you want to spend and boy or girl?? My boys love love love their ride on toys! Over a year and a half later Nathan still uses his! Or a small tool bench all three of my boys have loved that. If your looking for less money we the big balls at target or Walmart that are in the end cap bins are great, or the smaller chuck trucks are great to keep in a diaper bag or car for entertaining one year olds while shopping or eating out.

Kiddy pool, sand toys, activity table, books are all things she loves.

Some stuff that might be useful would be a nice sun bonnet in a boyish print, or a beach outfit with an SPF rating. I know Carter's/osh gosh makes them.

We didn't plan on giving it to her until her first birthday, but the weather was so beautiful this weekend we gave it to her now. She absolutely loves it. We've only put water in it since she's still putting everything in her mouth, but she loves splashing and pushing the little boats around.
