Who sleeps when LO sleeps?

From the very beginning i have been told  by countless people to sleep when LO sleeps but it never works out, either he will only nap for thirty minutes or less or there are just things that have to be done, i let a lot of things go but we have to have clean bottles and DH and i  do enjoy clean underwear!  On the rare occasions he naps for longer periods i have 8 weeks of things to do. So how many of you actually do sleep when baby sleeps?

Re: Who sleeps when LO sleeps?

  • Yeah I told my husband that if he tells me to "put her down and try to nap" I will flip out.

The only time her and I sleep at the same time is during her long stretch at night

  • I honestly would at least sometimes, if LO would nap anywhere other than on me or in the carrier. :)

  • My LO has taken to not napping at all during the day and screaming whenever not basically attached to my boob..... So I guess I sleep when he sleeps, at night

Yep, this for me too. Except replace boob with bottle.

  • I did sleep when she slept for the first few weeks while my body was healing. I knew that I'd be going back to work at 6 weeks pp though so I didn't want to get into the habit of napping during times that I would be at work. However LO and I do sleep until 10 before we are up for the day.

  • Nope. LO doesn't really nap long enough for it to be worth it. I would wake up more tired and groggy than when I started! Plus, there's cleaning, dishes, laundry, taking the dogs out, showering, etc.

  • I never get the opportunity! Before I started working from the house again I would be able to close my eyes on the couch with her while DS napped. Now here is too much to do. I'm not all that sleep deprived anyway.

  • I did in the first couple weeks, but now I barely accomplish what I want to in a day and I'm not napping at all. Coffee is a wonderful thing though!

  • So many people have told me to do this but I hadn't started doing it until last week. I would nap on and off with LO on my chest on the couch during the day but I wouldn't sleep when he slept at night. Since I wasn't getting anything done during the day due to our naps, and the fact that I was still recovering from my csection, I would clean and putter around at night instead of sleeping.

Last week I finally realized that I couldn't keep up with the schedule that we had so I started going to sleep at night after LO did his late night feeding. Normally I'm a night owl but it got to the point that I was just too exhausted to keep staying up at night. I'm not napping during the day anymore. I spend that time doing housework etc.

This. I've found this old adage to be absolute crap for me. Even when I just had one.

I usually get one nap during the day when Aria sleeps.  She is a good about taking a 2-3 hour nap during the day.  The rest of the time is spent cleaning bottles/house/laundry and trying to spend a little time with my poor dogs who are feeling neglected since baby came home.
  • I never napped when the baby did the first time, but napped when my toddler did when pregnant this time. Now I try to take the toddlers' 2 hour nap time as time to sit down and rest atleast
