FWIW, the top baby names are not nearly as popular as they use to be. For example, in 1980 the #1 girl name was Jennifer with 58,379 girls given the name. In 2011 the #1 girl name was Sophia with 21,695 girls given the name. Now days with people trying to be as "creative" as possible even the top names are not so numerous.
I know 7 Sophia's but none of them are students in either of my classes. Some are family on both my side and DH's side, kids in M's little classes at the rec, neighbors, and a few older women (like my grandma's friends). I think it is pretty popular, but if you love it rock it! Who cares what others think is how I feel about baby names.
