Baby skin care and wash

What skin care or wash are you using or getting? I've heard Johnson and Johnson still has unsafe chemicals and Aveeno too?

Re: Baby skin care and wash

  • We've been using Babytime by Episencial (https://episencial.com/).  I really like all the products we've tried so far.  The wash and soothing cream helped clear up, and prevent, my son's eczema.

I love the Mustela products and still use them on my toddler as well as LO.

  • I'm a FTM, but the associate at BRU, who is also a mom, recommended Babyganics. I bought the lotion for myself and like it so far.

  • I believe JJ and Aveeno are same company...

We're going to try California Babies. I also may get some Babyganics items; I used its sunscreen for our babymoon and it worked great.

  • California Baby hands down.  It is a tad pricey, but I just bought a second bottle and my son just turned 9 months old!  It smells great, is moisturizing and is very sensitive.

  • Mustela. Cali baby was too drying for dd's super sensitive skin. Aveeno and JJ are the same company.

  • Take a look at the EWG Skin Deep Cosmetic Database (https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/) to check any products you are considering. I would avoid J&J due to their ratings and chemicals of concern. California Baby started adding sodium benzoate to their products last year so we also added that to our list of products to avoid. We use Lafe's Organic Baby Foaming Shampoo & Wash which has a toxicity rating of 0.

  • I picked up Shea Moisture organic wash and shampoo https://www.babygeartoday.com/shea-moisture-baby-products-review.html

And Burt's Bee's Baby Lotion.  I got both at Target.  Agree on the JJ & Aveeno chemicals.

  • I did a LOT of research while on bedrest this winter - and I now use only Ava Anderson. Everything the company makes scores "0-1" on the EWG database.

Most people don't realize that companies can put ANYTHING in baby products - even toxic chemicals, and still call them "safe", "natural", "organic" and "gentle"! It's ALL about the ingredients. Also Burt's Bees is owned by Clorox, J&J owns Neutrogena and Aveeno...so be very careful and ignore the "marketing!". As for Babyganics, you might want to read this and think twice about trusting any claims this company makes:

I can't speak highly enough about Ava Anderson - so much so that I've since joined the company. They know their stuff, they do the research, and their products are amazing and they work (in addition to being safe).
