45 min intruder

Anyone have success at beating this? LO will not nap past 45 mins. I've tried swaddling, not swaddling, different sleep positions, etc. the only time I've had some success is him sleeping on my chest but even that doesn't work all the time. I'm getting anxious cuz he'll be in daycare soon and I'm just at a loss for what to do!

  • LO does the same thing usually. Every once in a while he'll sleep longer but that's rare. I figure he's getting the sleep he needs and he naps pretty often this way

  • DD usually naps 30-40 mins at a time.  DS did the same thing.  IMO it's just something they outgrow.  I feel lucky with DD though because DS too ~30min naps, but would only nap ON me.  At least she will nap on her own :)  DS started taking "real" naps when he was about 6mo.  I expect DD will probably outgrow this just like he did.

IIRC, sleep changes around the 4 month wakeful and I think naps are effected by that too.  So, maybe if you just hang in there it will correct itself here soon!

  • 45 minutes is a LONG nap for my LO! When he "naps" it's literally for 10 to 25 minutes at a time and lately not much at all. He will be 4 months on Monday so I'm hoping it's a combination of teething and wakefulness that's contributing. Hopefully both of our LO's will get back to longer naps soon!
  • Thanks ladies. I hope he does outgrow it soon. I feel like he's constantly tired! But in better news he's slept 10 plus hours the past two nights. Can't complain, I suppose.

  • I've been able to coax DS back to sleep by sticking his paci back in or if that doesn't work, I can wear him for a short while in the ergo and then put him back down when he falls asleep.
