Bed Rail for Adult Bed

DS fell out of the bed the other night. We room share, but don't generally cosleep because our bed is on the small side and it's hard to do safely. I fell asleep with him nursing on top of me and he slid off the bed. I of course feel horrible about the whole thing, even though DS was easily soothed and seemed to be un-phased by the whole thing.

I can make every effort to stay awake during the MOTN feedings, but realistically know that we're at risk of him falling again if I continue to bring him into our bed to nurse. Does anyone have a bed rail or other solution they recommend?

I have a clamp-down one from Safety First that works for us. It does, however, steal a couple inches off the edge of the bed.

Thanks! I can spare a few inches but not like 2 feet like a pillow product I saw.

DS is now using it in his bed, so it's a product that you'll probably get a few years out of. I never even tried to resist falling asleep at night feeds. Sleep is good.

I use that same bedrail. It was given to me by a colleague that had used it for her son's bed. I hadn't planned on bedsharing but I often bring her in the bed for a feeding and fall asleep, so I figured I may as well do it safely. After we changed the bed around (less blankets, adding the rail, etc) I felt so much more at ease and slept better because I wasn't waking in a panic checking on the baby.

Can you use this with an extra tall/pillow top mattress? I ordered a different one and there is a gap with it between the rail and mattress. I have a tightly rolled blanket filling the gap right now, but it's not ideal.

Not sure - ours fits over a regular mattress plus a memory foam topper that adds a couple inches (we had that off when he was a newborn, but it's on his bed right now). Read the dimensions and measure your mattress.
