What would you do?

I'll try to slim the story down.

We got a Baby Trend jogger with carseat as a shower gift. We started using the stroller in the last month a lot and notice any time we go more than a slight leisurely walk the stroller shakes. If you try to walk fast, run, etc, it will shake violently. When you run you are supposed to lock the wheels, but when you walk, the wheels unlocked should be able to turn really well.

The carseat is great, the walking with the wheels unlocked work pretty well as long as you're, say in the grocery or Target, going very slow, looking around. If I walk the dog or if I'm in the airport (every three weeks) trying to get somewhere in a hurry, not running but "moving with purpose" as my husband calls it, the stroller shakes like crazy. It shook so much one of the wheels popped out and nearly tossed C out. Thankfully he's always belted in and it just startled him and both of us cried in the middle of the airport.

I called Baby Trend today and explained and they say I need to send them the stroller on their dime so they can check for a malfunction or they can send me a replacement wheel and call it a day.

I politely explained that neither worked since I can't go two plus weeks without a stroller, 10 days is average for them to get the stroller back to me or replace it with a new one. I'm flying out this week for four days and we use the stroller religiously, not to mention it fits the carseat. And I don't want them to send me replacement parts for a malfunctioning stroller and call it good. I'm not good with tools, my husband is but I'm not lugging tools and parts on a plane to ask him to do it for me. If I send them the stroller the lady said they would only send me a new stroller or a refund if there's a malfunction and since I mentioned airport and she said "oh it was probably damaged in flight" twice, I have a sneaking suspicion even though it's always done the wobbling, they'll blame us and void the warranty. It's only been four weeks but it's always wobbled. I thought it was the tire needing air, but I did some research online and I'm not the only one with the issue.

SO what would you do? Send it back and risk them sending the stroller back with a voided warranty or take replacement parts on a broken stroller and fix it yourself?

I don't have anyone around who I would trust to work on the stroller or who would volunteer to help me with it anyhow, so it would be me fixing it unless I took everything to my husband. Unfortunately I'm very uncoordinated and I really hate having to fix shiiit on my own. Part of why I have a husband :)

I just want an effing refund at this point, but they said that's not in the warranty. Ugh.

  • It was shipped to us from Baby Trend by Amazon. My husband put it together before he left.

The only reason I don't want to just fix the wheel is that the wheel may not be why it's wobbling and I don't know crap about this stuff to know a danger sign other than the wheel falling off.

I sent an email to Amazon and hoping they'll take it back.

  • I think I have the same stroller as you and I have had big problems with the front wheel wobbling. I tried to lock the wheel to see if that helped. It stopped the wobbling, but made the stroller veer to the right. So much so that I had to correct it every few seconds. It was more annoying than the wobble. But I have had a few times I thought the wheel would fall off, but thankfully bit didn't.
I actually had a couple with the same stroller stop me at a fair I was at and they had exactly the same problem. They sent theirs back to the company and were sent a new stroller.
DH tightened the part in the middle of the wheel on ours and that helped a lot. Its not perfect, but a lot better than it was.
So, you are not alone with this problem!

  • I second the taking it to amazon to make it right. I have nothing but great things to say about their customer service. I have the same stroller but have had no issues, so I'm thinking its a lemon or a problem they corrected with a newer model.

  • I really don't want to buy a new stroller. I've loved this one other than the wobbling. Amazon says they can't help me since my mil who bought it got it from the baby trend dealer via amazon. So obnoxious. Now I have to tell mil about the airport incident. I didn't tell her because she freaks out a out nothing and this was something. The CS from amazon said to have my mil contact baby trend but I don't think they'll help her either. Ugh.
