Another Rock 'N Play Question...

After hearing so many great things about the Rock 'N Play, we registered for one and got it as a gift from my sister!  I am so excited, we will be using this for the baby to sleep in next to the bed for the first few months.

My question is, did anyone have a problem with it getting dirty?  I know it is washable and all, but I am wondering since I am using it for mainly nights...what if baby spits up or has a diaper blow out on it??  Its not like I can wait around for it to go through the washing machine at night.

Can you just wipe it off until morning and then wash it or would another cover be useful?  I have only found another cover on fisher price's website and it costs almost as much as the whole unit.

 Thoughts?

Re: Another Rock 'N Play Question...

  • DS will be 6 weeks tomorrow and he has slept in it since our first night home. I put a lap pad under his booty for those leaks. And as for spit up, it usually ends up on his clothes, but the occasional dribble down the side I just wipe clean.

We did that, too. I had a spare waterproof crib pad that I cut into thirds so I always had a fresh pad in case of accidents. We didn't have many though-- I think the slight incline helps.

  • LOVE the Rock N Play! My daughter had really bad reflux and was constantly spitting up.  We put a receiving blanket underneath her to contain the big messes and then just washed the blanket instead of the whole cover. It worked well for us.  Good luck!

  • I lay a blanket across the whole thing before I put LO in it. We only use it for naps though.

  • We always threw an AA blanket over it before use. We never used the seatbelt.
