2 month appt

I am already dreading the upcoming shots appt. Is it ok to give LO tylenol right as we get to dr so it can start working before he gets too uncomfortable waiting for it to take the soreness away? I know I have seen moms talking about giving it after but is a jump start ok? I just want to make it as bearable as possible for him.

  • My pedi recommended giving it an hour before for the same reason you describe. I'm not looking forward to it either, but I'll certainly take it over seeing them sick with one of these awful illnesses.

  • I would check with your doctors office...we had ours today and I called to ask yesterday and they told us not to because the dosage is based on their weight and after they weigh them then THEY give them the Tylenol before the shots. Good luck! It was not fun :

  • My LO was actually fine after his shots...just more sleepy than usual.  Maybe wait until after to see if yours will actually need it?

  • I agree with checking with your doctor/nurse. Our office recommends not giving Tylenol before because it can/will mask other reactions and they want to know if baby reacts to the immunizations at all.
