DS has been with our current provider for just over 3 years and loves her to pieces! After going through some significant separation anxiety recently I have a feeling that the transition is going to be rough for everyone. I start to tear up every time I call a place to discuss openings.
I don't want to see the look on his face when I tell him tonight why we are going to tour a new daycare.
I wish preschools in our area were more "working-parent friendly!"
Re: Vent: Our daycare provider is moving :(
Oh that's a bummer, I'm sorry!
I bet he'll adjust easier than you think, though. Lots of times things like this are much harder on us, and they get over it quicker!
What do you mean by more "working parent friendly?" I own a preschool so I'm just curious as to what this means.

Kali: So many preschools here are half day only programs which doesn't work when mom and dad both work regular 8-4 type hours. There is no way to transport him at 11am to daycare.
We mostly only need care 3 days/week with the occasional 4 day week. Most full day preschool programs still charge full-time rates, which I understand but don't really want to have to pay for. I know I could take him full time but he'll be in school next year so I kind of want to soak up as much time as I can with him!
We found an in-home that is run by a former elementary school teacher and she does a preschool program in the morning which will hopefully be perfect. She's been great so far with his anxiety issues and suggested several short mornings prior to his start date without me even asking! Hoping for the best!!
Ohh I'm so glad you found something that works well for your family!!
That's weird that so many are half day only and don't offer a full day (sometimes called extended day) program.
We used to only offer full day preschool but we've always had 2, 3 or 5 days per week (we never do 4 because at the end of the day, it's a business and we'll never have someone fill that 1 day you aren't using). Now I offer half days (8:30-12:30) and full days (7-6) all either 2, 3 or 5 days per week.
