Parenting after a Loss

Crazy Day.

Today was insane.

Got Katelyn off to school, Gabriel was still asleep, no issues, I went back to bed.

I heard him banging around in his crib around 8:30 and just lay there because I figured I'd wait for him to tell me he was ready to get out by crying.  Well I fell back into a little doze and woke up fifteen minutes later because I could still hear him banging around in there.

I decided to go get him even though he wasn't fussing, yup, he climbed out of the crib and was playing with his toys.  Thing is he is too young to take out of a crib :(  he is only 15 months old.  So now I have to figure out what to do about that.

Then we got a phone call that a bomb threat had been made at Katelyn's school.  They evacuated all of the kids but wouldn't let us have them for nearly four hours.  It was insanely stressful and scary.

Katelyn is fine though, they told them that they were just having a new kind of fire drill and they had to run out of the building.  They had them out in the fields all day and let them talk and play games.  You wouldn't even know anything happened to her.

It is four oclock and I am ready for bed.

  • No advice about how to deal with a little escape artist (I'm sure we will cross that bridge someday).  But I am so sorry about the bomb threat at school!  That is so scary, big hug, and I'm glad everything is ok.

Holy crap!  You had a day and a half!  Your story about your DS totally cracked me up.  Pip hasn't figured out that she can crawl out of her crib (yet) - so I'm hoping for at least a couple more months of crib before big girl bed.  GL - with that!

As for poor Katelyn (and you of course!) - I am so sorry that happened.  I know that it's super scary - that happened to Pip at DC last year and I almost lost my mind.  I can't believe they waited so long to reunite you guys!  Thank goodness she's fine and I'm glad that she was none the wiser about the real reason.  It's so sad that schools and DCs need to even have contingency plans for stuff like this - I think people are just going off their rockers and think that making threats - real or false - is fun.  Sickos.  (((HUGS)))

  • How stressful! It sounds like the schoolhandled it great though!

One of my friends had to get some kinds of tent to put over her crib so her son wouldn't climb out. I think she got it from Burlington, if there is one near you.
